Description

You're only seeing half the picture... it doesn't fit well with the preview formats.

This was taken from inside another building at the abandoned military fort. I was struck by the contrast of the living tree seen through the window of a decaying building.

In order to enhance the appearance of decay and to reduce visual distraction, the image was converted to duotone in Photoshop, then converted back to RGB and the color version of the photo tediously placed back into the windowframe.

In winter, I imagine you can see the city skyline through this window, which would also be an ironic contrast; however, they've tightened security around the fort and I haven't found a way to break back in (I will though). :)

wouw really strong contrast between dead, rusty and nearly colorless indoor and lively tree at outside.i also like the window frame as a frame for the tree!
also details and texture on walls are really great!

Not being a photographer myself I won't comment on the technical merits of this shot. However I must comend you on your choice of subject matter. Good eye. I love decaying edifices (edifi?). I love the contrast between ever-renewing nature and these temporary things we build. Some people see rust or peeling paint and only see something ugly. I like a person who sees something potentially beautiful. Nice work.

A footnote to this comment: rust is beautiful except when it resides on my car. They put too much salt on the roads in ontario. Poor Peej Lightning, she is on her way out.

I love the contrast in this picture. There is so much too see, and yet, my eye is drawn again and again to the green of the trees. I think it is very interesting, and very good!

Great Shot! I actually like the broken cement on the bottom right, looks neat, and that tree goes great with the broken-down look. +7 (highest I can give you) I cant wait to see more!

Impressive!
the contrast of dead and life, nice
it will better if the view from window can be more cool, like a single big tree on the hill...of couse it's out of control.
You are doing it really good
+8( well i believe we should be more objective, the higest score is hardly given)

Gorgeous textures. The desaturated foreground vs. the saturated view of the background is well done and adds a wonderful, lonely mood. I just love abandoned buildings.

This is a very nicely composed photo - It also it makes me think that things *we* make need work and attention to keep in good order, however, nature takes care of living things herself. Super.
